SBP’s appeal against decision in Riba case is violation of Constitution: Sirajul Haq

LAHORE, June 29 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Sirajul Haq has said the State Bank move to challenge the decision of Federal Shariah Court in Supreme Court is violation of the Constitution of Pakistan.

Addressing “Ulema Convention” at Mansoorah on Wednesday, he appealed to the people to boycott the banks who went against the ruling of Allah Almighty and were bent upon violating the constitution.

He said the government backed the central bank and five others decision to go to the apex court against FSC landmark decision. The rulers, he said, were least bothered about the teachings of Quran and they damaged the ideological identity of Pakistan.

“Riba constitutes war against Allah Almighty and Prophet (PBUH),” he said, adding the prosperity and development could not be achieved if the rulers of a Muslim country would continue war against Allah Almighty and His Messenger (PBUH).

He said the country was full of resources and inflation and other problems were due to interest-based economy and corruption. He said the rulers compromised the sovereignty of the country by making full surrender on the conditions of the IMF.

The masses, he said, were no longer ready to bear the pro-West ruling class. They, he added, destroyed the economy and wanted to transform Pakistan into secular state against the will of the people.

He said the PDM and PPP’s unity government also failed to provide any relief to the masses after three- and half-year destruction under the PTI government. He said the JI held the train march against the corrupt rulers and for the rights of the people.

“We will continue struggle to make Pakistan a welfare Islamic state.”

Religious scholars from all schools of Islamic thoughts and custodians of shrines participated in the convention and vowed to continue struggle against riba.
