PM Imran Khan says he is unable to understand why opposition not ready for use of EVMs in elections


ISLAMABAD, Nov 16 (SABAH): Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he is unable to understand why the opposition is not ready for use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in elections, adding that whole world is using electronic voting in elections but he is surprised that why opposition is scared from the EVMs. PM said his government not thought about the elections but thought about the future of the next generations. 

Prime Minister Imran Khan said this while addressing the gathering after performing groundbreaking of Lillah-Jhelum road at a ceremony in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The 128-kilometer long dual road will be constructed in thirty months at a cost of sixteen billion rupees. The road will establish link among Chakwal, Khushab, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat and Mirpur.

The project would help promote tourism, facilitate farm to market supply, increase employment opportunities and lead to economic progress.

PM Imran Khan said that those who are living in big houses in London and running big vehicles, this whole money went from Pakistan. He said that these people could not tell from where they got money for purchasing four London flats worth of billions of rupees, adding that till today they could not provide a single documents that from where this money came. He said that this money was embezzled from big projects like motorways and power plants. He said that only 1,000 billion rupees corruption has been committed in construction of roads. Imran Khan said the flood of inflation is coming from abroad. 

Prime minister said that the country could not make progress and move forward of which rulers and ministers commit corruption. 

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Ahmed Khan Buzdar, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, PM AJK Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Niazi and other PTI leaders were also present on the occasion. 

Meanwhile Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the government is aimed at building better and cost effective road infrastructure to spur economic activities in the country.

He said this while chairing a meeting on Sialkot-Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister said extending Sialkkot-Kharian Motorway up to Rawalpindi would be a game changer infrastructure project that would ensure efficient transportation of goods and services in the region.

Earlier the Prime Minister was briefed that NHA is not only building more new roads but is also working hard to ensure best quality and cheaper rates.

He was informed that 27 new road projects of 1,753 kilometers have been initiated by the government.

It is worth-mentioning to note that a 4-lane road is being constructed at a cost of 170 million rupees per Kilometer as compared to 370 million rupees per Kilometer in the previous government’s tenure.

Moreover, the recently launched Sialkot-Kharian Motorway is also being built at 100 million rupees per Kilometre cheaper than Sialkot-Lahore Motorway.

The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to take all necessary measures to build quality infrastructure at minimum possible cost to save valuable financial resources of the country.
