On direction of Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, protest camp was setup on the second day in favour of demands of farmers


LAHORE, May 5 (SABAH): On direction of Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, protest camp was setup on the second day in favour of demands of farmers. In Punjab and Sindh, protest camps were setup on more than 15 places.

In Punjab protest camps in Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin and Rawalpindi were setup and demonstrations were taken out. In Sindh, protest camps were setup in Daharki, Ghotki and Mirpur Khas and demonstrations were taken out. Leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami and local farmers leaders addressed on the occasion.

Protest campus would be continued till Tuesday in which the farmers would present their demands. Protest campuses were setup in different divisions and district headquarters of Punjab and Sindh under the auspices of Jamaat-e-Islami in favour of farmers demands regarding purchase of wheat. While giving warning of four days to the government of Punjab, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stressed upon the government to take back the decision of not purchasing wheat from the farmers otherwise Jamaat-e-Islami would declare to stage sit-in in front of chief minister house.

According to details, Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Liaqat Baloch while addressing a protest demonstration said that Jamaat-e-Islami is standing by the farmers and urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to bring forth the responsible persons of wheat scandal. He said if the government of Pakistan did not buy wheat from the farmers, Jamaat-e-Islami will tighten noose against the rulers.

In Northern Punjab, protest campuses were setup in Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat which were addressed by acting emir Jamaat-e-Islami Northern Punjab Iqbal Khan whereas in Faisalabad, emir district Mehboobul Zaman Butt participated and addressed the protest camp at Ghanta Ghar chowk.

Meanwhile, in Gujranwala, Jhelum and other cities, protest camps are ongoing. In Liaqat Bag, Rawalpindi, Naib Emir Northern Punjab, Hafiz Tanvir Ahmed while addressing the camp said that the government of Punjab has inflicted cruelty against the farmers by not purchasing wheat from them.

He said downpour destroyed the crop of wheat of the farmers and then the government did not buy wheat from the farmers at the fixed rate which is indeed cruelty. He said the government should care about the farmers, adding the farmers are not handless as Jamaat-e-Islami is standing by with them. In Sindh, protest camps were setup in Daharki, Ghotki and Mirpur Khas and demonstrations were taken out. Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Ghotki Mufti Muhammad Yousaf Mazari and local leaders addressed the protest campus.
