Woman awarded death sentence on proving crime of promotion of blasphemous material on social media 


RAWALPINDI, Jan 19 (SABAH): Additional Sessions Judge Rawalpindi, Adnan Mushtaq has awarded death sentence, 20 years imprisonment and Rs 200,000 fine to woman accused named Aneeqa Ateeq on proving the crime of promotion of the blasphemous material on social media. 

Additional Sessions Judge Rawalpindi Adnan Mushtaq has awarded death sentence to the accused in blasphemy case and awarded 20 years imprisonment and Rs 200,000 fine under cyber crime act and other clauses. The case was registered against the accused Aneeqa Ateeq aged 26 years age, wife of Ateequr Rehman on 13-05, 2020. 

According to the court order accused Aneeqa Ateeq is convicted under section 295-C PPC and sentenced to death and fine of Rs 50,000/-. She be handed by her neck till she is dead. In case of default in payment of fine the convict shall undergo simple imprisonment for six months. The sentence of death is subject to confirmation of the Hon’ble Lahore High Court, Lahore on reference being sent under Section 374 Cr.CP. 

The court order says convict Aneeqa Ateeq is also convicted under Section 295-A PPC and sentenced to 10 years R.I. along with fine of Rs 50,000/-. In case of default in payment of fine the convict shall undergo simple imprisonment for six months. 

Convict Aneeqa Ateeq is further convicted under Section 298-A PPC and sentenced to three years R.I. along with fine of Rs 50,000/. In case of default in payment of fine the convict shall undergo simple imprisonment for six months. 

The court order further says that convict Aneeqa Ateeq is convicted under Section 11 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 and sentenced to seven years R.I. with fine of Rs 50,000/-. In case of default in the payment of fine the convict shall undergo simple imprisonment for six months. 

According to the court order all the sentences awarded to the convict Aneeqa Ateeq shall run concurrently. Benefit under Section 382-B of Cr.PC is also extended to the convict. 

The court order says this is to authorize and require you the said Superintendent Central Prison, Rawalpindi to receive the convict in custody in the jail, together with the warrant, and there carry the aforesaid sentence into execution according to law.
