Who should be Karachi’s mayor; people announce their verdict in favour of JI Karachi Emir Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman
KARACHI, Nov 02 (SABAH): Who is raising voice for Karachiites in real meanings? Who can resolve the issues Karachi is facing? Who should be mayor of the city? Residents of Karachi announced their verdict in favour of Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, terming him the best personality for sorting out issues of the port city.
An organization which conducts private surveys, Plus Consultant, put forth several questions before the people during the four day survey which was conducted during September 17 and September 20 wherein more than 1,000 people took part with age between 16 and 55.
During the survey, three types of questions were asked from the people. First question was who is raising voice on the issues of Karachi? In response to this question, 58 percent people exercised their right to vote in favour of Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman. Only 14 percent votes were in favour of Pak Sarzameen Party chief and former mayor Syed Mustafa Kamal. Whereas only six percent of people liked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Firdous Shamim Naqvi whereas only four percent were in favour of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Barrister Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui and Mutahidda Qaumi Movement Pakistan’s Wasim Akhtar. 11% did not cast their vote in favour of anyone.
Second question of the survey was who could resolve the issues of Karachi? Forty-six (46) percent were in favour of Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, 12 percent Syed Mustafa Kamal, 8 percent Firdous Shamim Naqvi, five percent Murtaza Wahab and four percent cast their vote in favour of Wasim Akhtar whereas six percent exercised their right to vote in favour of other candidates that they can resolve the issues of the city.
Similarly, third question was that who should be the mayor of the city? Majority of the people cast their vote in favour of Hafiz Naeemur Rehman wherein 51 percent in favour of him, 16 percent Mustafa Kamal, seven percent Firdous Shamim Naqvi, five percent Murtaza Wahab and four percent were in favour of Wasim Akhtar. 10% were of the view that no one should be the Karachi’s mayor from all those abovementioned.
