We must reflect about our experiences we gained during Ramadan: Mazhar Chugtai

SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA, March 28 (SABAH): “We are passing though the last days of blessed month of Ramadan. Let us reflect in depth about our experiences we have gained during this month of fasting. We still have time to make the maximum use of the days which are left. Think of those who are in need, who are homeless, who have no shelter, yet they are the part of our community, be it here in the United States or in Pakistan,” this was stated by Mazhar Chugtai. CEO, Chugtai Development Group at the Iftaar dinner which he sponsored at Des Pardes restaurant, Springfield, Virginia (Suburb of Washington, D.C.). The attendance was full to the capacity.

According to the statement issued by Secretary General World Forum for Peace & Justice Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Mazhar Chugtai is widely known as a community leader who runs a civil society organization in Pakistan by the name of ‘Lilla Janbaz.’ Lilla Janbaz is a community-based non-profit organization dedicated to serving humanity with compassion and commitment. Its mission is to uplift underprivileged segments of society by focusing on: Providing financial and emotional support to widows to help them live with dignity; Sponsoring education for orphaned and underprivileged children to build a brighter future; Empowering families through small business support and entrepreneurship training; Offering free or low-cost emergency ambulance services for those in need; Organizing medical camps, health awareness drives, and providing basic healthcare facilities. In nutshell, Lilla Janbaz, Mazhar Chugtai says has proved to be the beacon of hope.

I personally remember that during Covid in 2020, Mazhar Chugtai as the then President of Sapphire Tucson restaurant served free meals to the less fortunate people around DMV community. From March 20, 2020, to April 9, 2020, Sapphire restaurant was able to give 3100 meals to those in need. Besides, Sapphire restaurant decided to give free carry-out meals for families in financial need daily from 1 to 3pm from restaurant Sapphire Tysons. Mazhar Chugtai said that we’re all in this together and we hope that we did our part.

Iftaar dinner began with the recitation by Zeeshan Chugtai (Son of Mazhar Chugtai) who recited few verses from Suratur-Rehman. Before recitation, Zeeshan said that I love to recite Suratur Rehman at all times. Naat was recited by Talha Abbasi & Mohammad Zulqarnain.

Javaid Kousar, a well-known journalist of Pakistani American community was emcee.

Moulana Imam Abdul Wali Muradbadai of Islamic Center of Northern Virginia spoke about enhancing the spiritual connection of the month of fasting. He emphasized that fasting teaches us the self-discipline, compassion, gratitude towards our fellow human beings irrespective of their religious background. Moulana Wali said that fasting can make us realize that we need to empathize with those tens of thousands of people around us who go to bed hungry. He quoted a Hadith that one cannot be a Muslim. If he eats and his neighbor goes to be bed empty stomach. Imam Wali emphasized that those who fast with the sense of accountability and full belief, all the sins will be forgiven.

The Iftaar dinner was concluded with Du’a by Moulana Wali for the prosperity of humanity in general and Ummah in particular.
