KACHHI/BOLAN/QUETTA, Sep 04 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that we have to march together in unison and serve this nation with the core of our heart above our personal likes and dislikes and in this way the nation will be formed.
On the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Bibi Nani Bridge in Balochistan was restored in just eight hours that revived the traffic from Quetta to Sukkur. The Prime Minister was informed this during his visit to the site on Sunday.
It was also told that the authorities concerned undertook massive efforts to restore the bridge.
The Prime Minister, on the occasion, thanked the National Highway Authority, Pakistan Army and other departments for their efforts in restoring the road infrastructure. He also announced an honorarium of three million rupees for the people of various departments, who actively participated in the restoration work. Besides, Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, who was also present on the occasion, too announced a reward of two million rupees for the workers and labourers for their contribution in the restoration work.
In addition to restoration of road infrastructure, the Prime Minister was apprised that gas pipeline covering Quetta, Pishin, Ziarat, Kalat and other areas will be restored on Sunday. It was said that the restoration of the pipeline is a result of eight days’ round the clock work. Shehbaz Sharif also announced one million rupees for the workers deployed for the restoration of the gas pipeline.
Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said the amount of honouraria will be distributed among the concerned people in a transparent manner.
Prior to this Chairman NHA and other officials briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about the restoration of Pinjra Pul in Kachhi District in Balochistan. On the occasion CM Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, JUI-F Secretary General Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidery, Senator Kamran Murtaza Advocate and other officials were also present.
On the occasion PM Shehbaz Sharif said that people have dragged in difficulty, drowned in water, livestock have been killed, over 1300 people have died, crops present on hundreds and thousands of acres have been destroyed, bridges were swept away, animals swept away and homes were destroyed. He said that Sindh has been affected the most from flood and rains, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhunkhwa, South Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir has been partially affected from rains and flood. He said that the flood has caused destruction in whole country. He said that if someone is an engineer, politician, labourer, general, sepoy and architecture, the whole nation is united at this moment.
The prime minister said that it was a matter of satisfaction that all the people had been involved to overcome the enormous issues after the natural calamity hit the country.
Appreciating the efforts of the district administration authorities and others, the prime minister said their commitment and devotion had been a source of inspiration for the general public.
He said that he saluted all those who had been involved in the relief and rehabilitation efforts. The chief minister and the chief secretary had been coordinating and working with all the relevant authorities, he added.
It was your commitment to the nation, he said, adding that their efforts would serve as a beacon of light for the people. It was the teamwork that could yield results in trying times, he opined.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced honorarium of Rs 5 million for the labourers working on Pinjra Pul and adjoining areas. He said that this money will be distributed by CM Balochistan, Chairman NHA, chief engineer Balochistan and chief secretary Balochistan on merit. Shehbaz Sharif said that he will visit the area after some days and hoped that the rehabilitation work on the roads in the area will be completed by then.
Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on a day-long visit to Balochistan, to review work on the rehabilitation of flood-affected road and railway infrastructure.
Secretary Ministry of Communications and Chairman National Highway Authority Captain (retd) Khurram Agha gave a detailed briefing to him during an aerial view of the damaged railway bridge in Bibi Nani and the restoration work on Pinjra Bridge which was completely swept away by the floods.
Earlier, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Chief Secretary Balochistan and other high ranking officers received the Prime Minister at Quetta Airport.
Meanwhile on the special direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the work of restoring highways and connecting roads in flood-affected areas is underway on an emergency basis.
According to Prime Minister Office, the prime minister himself is monitoring maintenance process and a daily report is also being submitted to him.
During the last fifteen days, flood-affected highways have been restored in all four provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan.
National Highway N-15 has been reopened for traffic from Mansehra to Chilas via Naran. Similarly, Karachi to Chaman national highway N-25 which was affected by flood from Hub to Khuzdar has also been opened. Karakoram Highway N-35 has also been made fully operational.
