We are trying to move towards betterment: CJP Qazi Faez Isa

ISLAMABAD, Nov 7 (SABAH): Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa has said that we are trying to mover towards betterment.

A three-member bench headed by CJP Justice Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Athar Minallah conducted hearing on an appeal filed by Muhammad Akram and others against the Province of Punjab through District Officer (Revenue) Bhakkar and others. Malik Qamar Afzal appeared as counsel of the petitioner in front of the bench and presented arguments.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Justice Faez Isa remarked that the purchase agreement of 200 kanal land in Bhakkar is of 1963, adding that how case could be filed regarding the matter in 1991. This case should have been dismissed at that time. He further said that how they could revive the agreement of 1963 in 1991. Chief justice remarked that it is not known whether the person who drafted the petition is alive or passed away, adding that the person who drafted the case should be caught as he destroyed the case.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked that the land had to be given to the local poor farmers while the petitioner with the power of money plunged from outside, adding that there is no case on merit of the applicant. Chief justice remarked that the petitioner tried to exploit the vulnerable people of the society. This was land of poor people, he said.

If in the future the government launches some cheap housing scheme for the poor people then any rich man come and try to purchase all the plots on the power of the money, he said and in this case, a rich man will become richer and poor will remain poor.

Chief justice said that the petitioner’s act is against public policy of that time and his case is not sustainable on this very ground. The bench dismissed the petition as withdrawn by the counsel of the petitioner.
