Verdicts of judiciary creating crisis: Ahsan Iqbal
ISLAMABAD, May 3 (SABAH): Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry has said that verdicts of judiciary creating crisis, adding that the powers of Chief Justice have been misused.
Ahsan Iqbal expressed these views during in an interview with a private TV channel. “On a verdict of Supreme Court, Parliament declared that the matter has been dismissed by the four judges in comparison with the three judges and efforts of imposing minority decision were being made. CJP needs to formulate full court bench. Would CJP’s colleague judges announce decision against the Constitution,” he said.
Ahsan Iqbal said, “We are always in favour of formation of full court bench comprising all sitting judges as it will encompass wisdom of all judges which is why it should be relied on. Former prime minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan was imposing his political agenda by using the shoulders of Supreme Court as he remained politically unsuccessful.”
Ahsan Iqbal added, “In 2017, some judges of Supreme Court fulfilled Imran Khan’s agenda in the form of disqualification of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.” He said that Pakistan was suffering from financial crisis and added there is option left with to accept a new crisis.
He commented, “What is the meaning of rule of law. Rule of law stands for bringing order in the society and if there is no order it means rule of jungle was working. Court decisions must give stability to peace and tranquility in the society. If court’s decisions are creating new crisis then it must examine whether is it working as an instrument of some political agenda.”
He further said that the prime minister and chief minister should use his powers through the cabinet and added if he uses his powers without the approval of the cabinet, it means he is working against the Constitution.
