US provides funding to Pak for 12 ongoing development projects during first half, July-Dec period of this fiscal year 2023-24

ISLAMABAD, Jan 19 (SABAH): The United States of America (USA) has provided funding to Pakistan for 12 ongoing development projects during first half, July-December period of this fiscal year 2023-24.

The US development aid is being provided to Pakistan under Kerry Lugar Act, that was passed to assist Pakistan in its development priorities, being a Front Line Sate against War on Terror, fought in Afghanistan and Pak Afghan Border during the last 20 years.

According to the Foreign Economic Assistance, report for the July-December period of the ongoing fiscal year 2023.24 released on the other day. According the report, United States has aid for the projects including Mangla Refurbishment and Up gradation Project Rs.2.483 billion, Gomal Zam Dam Command Area Development Project Rs.52.44 million, Kurram Tangi Dam-I (Katiu Weir) (Stage-I) project Rs.733.77 million, FATA Infrastructure Program Rs.1.327 billion, Sindh Basic Education Project Rs.1.177 billion, Municipal Services Delivery Sindh Rs.194.05 billion,  Tarbela Dam Repair and Maintenance Project Rs. 202.54 million,  Strengthening Technical Capacity of DOH, Sindh Rs.2.41 million, US-Need Based Merit Scholarships for Pakistani University Students Programme (Phase-II)  Rs.116.59 million, Khyber Pukhtunkwa Municipal Service Programme  Rs.33.65 million, Strengthening of Health Services Academy Islamabad Rs.48.93 million,  Khyber Pukhtunkwa  Re-construction Programme Rs.820.28 million, the report stated.
