Until & unless you enjoy two-thirds majority in parliamentary democracy you can not carry out big desired reforms: PM Imran Khan
ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (SABAH): Prime Minister Imran Khan says the situation in Afghanistan is becoming very serious and provision of assistance to Afghan people is a collective responsibility of the world community. PM Imran Khan said that until and unless you enjoy two-thirds majority in the parliamentary democracy you can not carry out big desired reforms in the country.
Interacting with former diplomats, representatives of think tank in Islamabad on Sunday, PM Imran Khan said everyone agrees to save Afghanistan from a humanitarian crisis and if the situation worsens, the United States will also face difficulties.
The Prime Minister said that he has paid a successful visit to China and this visit was of utmost importance keeping in view the rapid growing relations between Pakistan and China.
He said all issues including economic affairs were discussed with President Xi Jinping. He said our economy is moving in right direction and the Chinese leadership has expressed confidence on it. He said that the instead of coronavirus the GDP of country is at 5.37 percent.
Imran Khan said that the government has dealt with the global pandemic with effective strategy which is being acknowledged by the whole world.
He said we saved the economy and lives of the people at a same time by imposing smart lockdown policy during the COVID-19. He said common men in different countries across the globe were severely affected by the epidemic.
Imran Khan said that the prices of goods should be the same across the country. He said the government is facing a lot of problems after the 18th constitutional amendment. He said without wealth creation the country cannot move towards development.
About Afghanistan, the prime minister said the international community had a consensus over this issue. Europe and all the neighbouring states of Afghanistan agreed to avoid humanitarian crises there and stressed upon de-freezing of their assets. The US also understood and realized the situation. All had consensus that steps should be taken so that Afghanistan should not be descended into chaos.
Referring to the Chinese government, the prime minister said when a decision was taken, it was implemented, but in Pakistan, they lacked such synergy among the federal and provincial governments.
In China, he said, the whole country worked for the wealth creation, he said, adding that all the hurdles in Special Economic Zones (SMEs) would be removed.
During the Beijing Winter Olympics, the Chinse crowd warmly cheered the Pakistani contingent, reflecting how deeply rooted these ties had been between the two countries, he observed.
Briefing the session Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the government is committed to complete all ongoing projects of China Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said some elements are trying to destabilize the project but we will foil their nefarious designs.
Briefing the session Finance Minister Shaukat Fayaz Ahmed Tarin said China helped us building our infrastructure and the government will address all the problems of Chinese investors in Pakistan.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the number of working groups on China Pakistan Economic Corridor has increased from five to eleven. He said new projects have also been launched and new transmission lines and roads have been built under this mega project.
