University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir arranges farewell party in honour of retiring faculty, officers


MUZAFFARABAD, Feb 18 (SABAH): The Vice-Chancellor University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK), Professor Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, has said that the faculty members and administrative staff who devotedly served the institution and nurtured a generation of highly educated youth in the region will never be forgotten for their valuable services and lighting the candle of knowledge in the society.

He expressed these views while addressing a farewell party held in connection with the retirement of Professor Emeritus Dr. Muhammad Abdul Qayyum, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sadeeq Awan, Prof. Aamir Farooq, Prof. Arif Bakhari, and Additional Treasurer Abdul Wahid.

Paying rich tribute to their services, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi said that the retiring faculty members and administrative officers have dedicated their lives to serving the institution for over three decades and have prepared young people by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and spirit of national development. “Their devotion is an admirable example and a source of inspiration for other officers,” he added.

Dr. Kaleem Abbasi said that UAJK has a great tradition of honoring its retirees after serving in any capacity at the university, and today’s ceremony was organized to uphold this glorious tradition and acknowledge their services and bid them farewell with dignity and respect.

Acknowledging Prof. Dr. Abdul Qayyum Khan’s contributions to the university as a faculty member, Registrar, Dean of Engineering, and Director of Finance, he termed it a golden chapter in the history of the institution. “Similarly, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sadeeq Awan, Prof. Arif Bukhari, Prof. Aamir Farooq, and Abdul Wahid have also rendered remarkable services in their respective fields, which is a source of pride for the university,” the VC remarked.

The ceremony, besides retiring professors and administrative officers was also addressed by, Meritorious Prof. Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, Prof. Emeritus Dr. Muhammad Rustam Khan, Registrar Prof. Dr. Ayesha Sohail, Meritorious Prof. Dr. Nadeem Haider Bukhari, Dean of Sciences Dr. Sadiq ur Rahman Khattak, Dean of Engineering Saadat Haneef Dar, President Officers Welfare Association Sardar Majeeb Zafar, Additional Registrar Sardar Zafar Iqbal, representative of Academic Staff Association Dr. Manzoor, and President  Administrative Staff Association Israr Saeed Qadri. The speakers paid tributes to their fellows for their professional services to the university and presented shields and souvenirs to them as a memento.
