United States has provided Pakistan aid for 12 development projects, mainly social sector & infrastructure development


ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 (SABAH): United States has provided Pakistan aid for 12 development projects, mainly social sector and infrastructure development.

Being a front line state against war on terrorism fought in Afghanistan and Pak-Afghan Borders, during the last twenty years and United States has been providing Pakistan as a compensation of his role in this war. To compensate United States has been refunding Pakistan the amount spent on Anti-Terrorist activities especially at Pak-Afghan border areas but also within Pakistan under Coalition Support Fund (CSF), disbursement of which have been stopped some two years ago.

However, development aid to Pakistan under Kerry Lugar Act, passed by United States, is still under implementation and Pakistan each financial year receive funding for few development projects.

According to Foreign Economic Assistance report for July-January period of ongoing fiscal year 2023-24, united states has released development aid to Pakistan for 12 projects.

United States has provided Rs.2.564 billion for Mangla Refurbishment & Up gradation Project.

FATA Infrastructure Program received Rs.1.389 billion, Rs.1.117 billion for Sindh Basic Education Project.

Kurram Tangi Dam-I (Katiu Weir) (Stage-I) received Rs.733.77 million and Rs.213.84 billion for Sindh Basic Education Project.

KP Reconstruction Program received 820.28 million, Rs.48.93 million for Strengthening of Health Services Academy, Tarbela Dam Repair and Maintenance Project 202.54 million, US-Need Based Merit Scholarships for Pakistani University Students Program (Phase-II) received 116.59 million, Strengthening Technical Capacity of DOH, Sindh Rs.2.41 million and KP Municipal Service Program Rs.33.65 million.
