United Nations must fulfill Kashmir obligation: Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai

WASHINGTON, Jan 03 (SABAH): Kashmiri global diaspora will observe the Right to Self-Determination Day on Thursday, January 5, 2023. It was on January 5, 1949, when the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) adopted the resolution that gave the people of Jammu & Kashmir right to self-determination. American Ambassador to the United Nations, Adlai Stevenson said it the best on June 15, 1962, “The larger interest of South Asia’s peace and security require, it seems to us, the prompt settlement of the Kashmir dumpsite.”

Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Chairman, ‘World Forum for Peace and Justice’ said that Kashmiri diaspora will hold public rallies, seminars, processions in different capitols of the world. In Washington, DC and New York, ‘World Kashmir Awareness Forum’ has arranged digital trucks to highlight not only the demand of the people of Kashmir to right to self-determination but also to bring to light the nature of atrocities committed by the Indian occupation forces in occupied Jammu & Kashmir. The digital trucks will move around the city of Washington and New York between 10.00 AM to 6.00 PM. with the message like, “Stop India’s military and demographic terrorism in Kashmir.”

Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai added that the Kashmir conflict has become the bone of contention of the nuclear tension in the region of South Asia. Without a just and lasting peace in Kashmir that vindicates self-determination, trying to reduce missile and nuclear arsenals; and bring normalcy in the region of South Asia will be an exercise in futility.

“Please come and join us on Thursday, January 5, 2023, near the White House at 1.00 PM (Corner of H & 17 Streets, N.W.) to express our solidarity with the oppressed people of Kashmir” Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai said.
