Unidentified miscreants open firing on Charge d’ Affairs of Pakistani Embassy in Kabul, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani


KABUL/ISLAMABAD, Dec 02, (SABAH): Unidentified miscreants on Friday opened firing on Charge d’ Affairs of Pakistani Embassy in Kabul, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani. He remained safe in the firing incident.

The Charge d’ Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ambassador Ubaid-Ur-Rehman Nizamani, was targeted by an assassination attempt by armed assailants in Kabul.

According to a private TV channel sources, the firing took place when the Pakistani Chargé d affaires was having a walk when an assassination attempt was made. It was further informed by the sources that three shots were fired at the Pakistani Chargé d affaires’s guard.

It has been learnt through sources that the guard was injured after taking the three bullets on his chest and has been shifted to a medical facility.

When the incident happened, there was no activity in the Pakistani Embassy due to weekly off.

The head of mission and other officials are being called back to Pakistan temporarily, the sources said.

Meanwhile according to a statement issued by Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the compound of the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul came under attack on Friday targeting Head of Mission, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani. By the grace of Allah Almighty, the Head of Mission is safe. However, a Pakistani security guard Sepoy Israr Mohammad has been critically injured in the attack while protecting the Head of Mission.

She said that the Government of Pakistan strongly condemns the assassination attempt against the Head of Mission and the attack against the embassy compound in Kabul. She said that the Interim Government of Afghanistan must immediately hold thorough investigations in this attack, apprehend the culprits, hold them to account, and take urgent measures to ensure the safety and security of Pakistani diplomatic personnel and citizens in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned dastardly assassination attempt on Pakistan’s Head of Mission, Kabul. PM Shehbaz Shairf in a statement issued on twitter said that salute to brave security guard, who took bullet to save his life. Prayers for the swift recovery of security guard, he said. “I demand immediate investigation and action against perpetrators of this heinous act” PM Shehbaz Sharif said.
