UNHRC adopts the Resolution on human rights situation in occupied Palestinian territory including East Jerusalem

GENEVA, April 05 (SABAH): United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) adopted the Resolution on human rights situation in occupied Palestinian territory including East Jerusalem and the obligation to ensure accountability and justice.

The resolution was presented by Pakistan on behalf of
Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Out of total 47 members, the resolution was supported by 28 countries and was opposed by 6 countries. 13 countries abstained from voting on the resolution.

China, Indonesia, Sudan, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bangladesh, Qatar, Viet Nam, South Africa, Somalia, Morocco, Maldives, Eritrea, Finland, Gambia, Ghana, Honduras, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Luxembourg, Algeria, Belgium, Brazil, Burundi, Chile, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Côte d’Ivoire voted in favor of the resolution.

United States of America (USA), Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Malawi and Paraguay voted against the resolution.

France, India, Japan, Albania, Benin, Montenegro, Netherlands (kingdom of The), Georgia, Romania, Cameroon, Costa Rica, Lithuania and Dominican republic abstained from taking part in voting on the resolution.
