Under Alkhidmat Foundation & PIMA & with the cooperation of POB Trust, six-day long free eye camp organized in Kabul


LAHORE/KABUL, June 08 (SABAH): Under Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan and Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) and with the cooperation of POB Trust, six-day long free eye camp was organized in Kabul.  

In result of the efforts of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, PIMA and Pak Afghan Cooperation Forum, POB Trust organized the six-day long free eye camp in Afghan capital Kabul, in which surgeries of 600 patients came from Kabul and other cities were carried out.

For this purpose 20-member delegation of the Alkhidmat Foundation, PIMA and POB Trust visited Kabul, Afghanistan. The delegation included Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Dr. Mushtaq Mangat, POB Trust Chief and prominent eye surgeon Dr. Intizar Hussain Butt, General Secretary Alkhidmat Health Foundation Dr. Zahid Latif, MD Suffiyan Ahmed Khan, prominent eye surgeon Dr. Imran Akram Sahf, Dr. Mir Ali Shah, Dr. Ghulam Hussain Asif, other doctors, paramedical staff and other office-bearers.

Dr. Intizar Hussain Butt while sharing the details of the free eye camp held at the Noor Eye Hospital Kabul said that in the camp the surgery of 600 patients of white cornea and other diseases of eyes were carried out. He said that it was first time that in Afghanistan the

Oculoplasty and Vitreoretinal surgeries were carried out, adding that for this purpose a special operation theater with the cost of Rs 25 million was established and specialized training was provided to 15 local doctors.

Vice President of the Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Dr. Mushtaq Mangat on the occasion said that there is shortage of the public medical facilities in war torn Afghanistan from last many decades. He said that so far Alkhidmat Foundation has sent over Rs 350 million relief goods for the Afghan people, adding that the relief goods also include Rs 70 million medicines and other medical equipment. He said that the purpose of these steps is to strengthened the health system of Afghanistan and provide relief to the masses. He said that Afghanistan is our neighbor and our brethren Islamic country, adding that Alkhidamt Foundation Pakistan with the cooperation of other relief organizations will continue to provide every possible support to the Afghan people.
