UN Security Council has failed the people of Palestine so far, not once but many times: Shehbaz

LAHORE, Dec 22 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former prime minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that the United Nations Security Council has failed the people of Palestine so far, not once but many times.

In a statement issued on Friday on twitter, Shehbaz Sharif said that it is deeply perplexing how the UNSC member countries have shown a stark inability to resolve the differences over the text of the draft resolution, causing inordinate delay in the voting. This has let Israel continue with its genocidal campaign of the Palestinians, he said.

Shehbaz Sharif said that while the world spoke with one voice against the Israeli brutality in the two landmark General Assembly resolutions, the UNSC has been stymied by paralysis. As it is meeting again today, it should know that the very credibility of the UN is on the line, he said.
