Two days workshop for delegates of PAECO Member Parliaments titled ‘Parliamentary Services for Strengthening Development’ concludes
ISLAMABAD, Jan 25 (SABAH): National Assembly of Pakistan concludes two days work shop for delegates of PAECO Member Parliaments titled “Parliamentary Services for Strengthening Development”.
While sharing his insight and life long experiences of parliamentary diplomacy with participants of workshop, Syed Shamoon Hashmi, Special Secretary of the National Assembly of Pakistan delved deep into the world of Parliamentary forums and friendship groups, highlighting how their active role powerfully enhance regional inclusiveness and outreach. He also stated, “PAECO seeks to boost parliamentary cooperation for increased economic collaboration, aiming to achieve shared peace, progress, and prosperity in the region.”
Furthermore, Special Secretary National Assembly of Pakistan explained that these platforms provide legislators members with pertinent information and knowledge through open and thorough discussions, enabling them to adopt a results-oriented approach to issues and subsequently enact relevant laws.
While Stressing the effectiveness of these forums, Shamoon Hashmi shared that since the establishment of the women’s parliamentary caucus in Pakistan’s Parliament, the parliament has passed more laws related to women and children than the parliament had done previously. He also deliberated upon the significance of Parliamentary friendship groups and Parliamentary caucus to highlight the significance of Parliamentary diplomacy.
Later on the participants were awarded certificates of appreciation for their valuable participation and contribution in the workshop. The participants were also briefed about significance, role and functions of Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) by Executive Director Muhammad Anwar Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS). The participants of workshop expressed appreciation for successfully holding this workshop.
