Trade deficit will shrink & national economy will further strengthen with increase in exports & remittances: Shaukat Tarin
ISLAMABAD, Dec 03 (SABAH): Adviser to PM on Finance and Revenue Shaukat Fayaz Ahmed Tarin has expressed the confidence that trade deficit will shrink and national economy will further strengthen with increase in exports and remittances.
Addressing a joint news conference flanked by Adviser to PM on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood in Islamabad on Friday, he said the economic fundamentals are heading in the right direction with thirty six percent increase recorded in revenues.
He said the agriculture products, including sugarcane, have witnessed enhanced production in the country.
The Adviser on Finance informed that prices of petroleum products are pushing back at the international market and price of edible oil is also expected to come down next month.
Shaukat Tarin said the government is fully cognizant of the problems being faced by the lower and lower middle income groups due to price hike.
He said the government is taking measures to provide relief to lower class through Ehsaas Rashan Program and Kamyab Pakistan Program.
Speaking on the occasion, Adviser on Commerce Razaq Dawood said national exports are increasing both in quantity and value. He said record exports of 2.9 billion dollars were registered during the last month, adding that exports will touch three billion dollars mark this month.
