Thousands of pro Palestinian protesters marched through Birmingham & to reiterate calls for a ceasefire in Gaza
BRUSSELS, Jan 21 (SABAH): Thousands of people marched through Birmingham to show solidarity with Palestine and to reiterate calls for a ceasefire in Gaza. Demonstrators met at the Sparkhill Park and marched towards Birmingham. The demonstration was organized by Alliance of pro Palestine organizations.
Jeremy Corbyn MP told the crowd, “There are 30,000 lives already lost and when the rubble is cleared goodness knows how many more will be found. “The Palestinian people must never be left alone and that’s why we’re here today. That is why there are demonstrations all over the world.”
Raja Fahim Kayani, President Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK said while speaking at the demonstration “We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people who have been living under brutal Israeli occupation, subjugation and oppression for the last 75 years. When United Nations was passing a resolution in Nov 1947 to divide the Palestinian land into two states, at the same time Kashmir was occupied by India, the stories of destruction, extrajudicial killing, custodial killings, settler terrorism, demographical terrorism, state terrorism against Palestinian and Kashmiris go side by side in the last 75 years. He added “Israel has carried out this century’s most destructive bombardment on Gaza.
Israel has dropped more than 45,000 bombs on Gaza weighing more than 65,000 tonnes. That’s over one and a half times more than the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombs combined. This is not self defence. This is terrorism, this is ethnic cleansing, this is genocide. Gaza has become a graveyard for children because Israeli army is deliberately targeting children”.
Raja Fahim Kayani quoted the statement of South African lawyer in ICJ “I want you to look in the mirror and ask where was I when Gaza was going through a Genocide”. He further said “I salute all the supporters of Justice and freedom for Palestine. Your continuous activism from Washington to London, Paris to Sydney and across the world has exposed Israeli war crimes to the world. Today we are all unites under one slogan Ceasefire now”.
Lowkey, Kamel Hawwash, John Rees, Barrister Muhammad Hafeez, Clare Short, Oscar Leyens, Salma Yaqoob, Akhmed Yaqoob , Rana Shama Nazir, Muhammad Ali, Cllr Muhammad Ayub, Muhammad Arif, Naeem Khan , Javed Iqbal and others addressed the Rally and condemned Israeli state terrorism in Gaza and called for Ceasefire.
