There will be a nationwide historic shutter down strike on August 28 in follow up of agreement struck with govt: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

LAHORE, Aug 25 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that the follow-up of the government agreement is ongoing and there will be a nationwide historic shutter down strike on August 28.

This was stated by Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while holding a press conference at Mansoorah along with JI Deputy Secretary General Azhar Iqbal Hasan, JI Information Secretary Qaisar Sharif and Director Digital Media Cell Salman Sheikh.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said he also fully supports the strike call of traders and the entire nation will have to be united for rights. In this case, the looting of the rulers will stop. He said “I want to tell PML-N, PP and allies that relief will have to be given to the people, Rs 14 per unit reduction for two months in Punjab is like peanuts.”

He said, “Nawaz Sharif should tell the nation how much rupees have been consumed in terms of capacity charges, only if the capacity charges of the IPPs of the Sharif family and their approved people are removed, electricity can be affordable for the people of the entire country. Not favor or charity, the actual cost should be determined and the electricity tariff should be reduced.”

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the country cannot move forward without ending the oppressive system and the monopoly of the imposed class. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami has reorganized “Haq Do Awam Ko” to provide relief to the people and to fight against the corrupt system. By creating a national agenda, they are starting the people contact campaign from September 1, he noted.

Emir Jamaat-e-Islami said that the battle of interests is going on in the political parties, someone wants to take extension, someone is manipulating to get seats which have not been won but no one is talking about giving relief to the people. He said that no one is talking about the IPPs.

He said gas crisis is looming, electricity bills have become bombs, salaried class has been trapped by the tax burden but political parties are realigning for power. He said the people have to give 2000 billion to IPPs this year in the form of capacity charges, all these parties are included in the construction and operation of these IPPs.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the PP, PML-N, Q League and PTI governments have given IPPs thousands of billions of exemptions in income tax in addition to capacity charges. He deplored that all the governments announce thousands of billions of benefits for 40 families while the public and the salaried class are suffering.
