There is no space for intolerance & extremism in Islam & no one can be allowed to take law into their own hands: COAS General Syed Asim Munir 

 RAWALPINDI, Sep 25 (SABAH): Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has emphasized the need for promoting greater interfaith harmony in the society to follow Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s true vision of a united and progressive Pakistan.

COAS General Syed Asim Munir was talking to a 13-member delegation of Christian community led by President Bishops Church of Pakistan and Bishop of Raiwind Dr. Azad Marshall, which called on him in Rawalpindi on Monday.     

According to ISPR, matters of mutual interest, religious and inter-faith harmony were discussed during the meeting.                                     

The Army Chief while expressing deep respect for Christian community, stressed that there is no space for intolerance and extremism in Islam and no one can be allowed to take law into their own hands.           

He lauded the contributions of Pakistani Christian Community in national development, promotion of quality education, healthcare, philanthropy and defence of the motherland.           

On the occasion, the Christian Community delegation acknowledged Pakistan Army’s efforts in combating terrorism and providing secure environment to the minorities in the country.                                       

They appreciated the Army Chief’s gesture as an inspiration for Pakistani minorities to take more active part in nation building and in restoring their faith in a cohesive and tolerant society.
