The Contempt of Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) Bill, 2023 laid before the National Assembly
ISLAMABAD, May 09 (SABAH): Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbasi has assured to take necessary steps to address the issue of flour shortage and increase in its price in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Responding to the points of the members in the National Assembly on Tuesday, Murtaza Javed Abbasi said the matter has been brought into the notice of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and a decision will soon be taken to this effect.
The Federal Minister clarified that there is no formal notification to stop the transportation of wheat from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Contempt of Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) Bill, 2023 was laid before the National Assembly on Tuesday. The Bill was moved by Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon.
The proposed Bill aims at condemning and awarding punishment for the actions that accounts for breach of the sovereignty and integrity of the prestigious house of Majlis-e-Shoora in any form or shade.
In his remarks on the occasion, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar termed the bill a serious effort to give further impetus to the functions of the parliament.
He said doing legislation is the right of the parliament and the institution which has the right of the constitution’s interpretation should also take care of the sanctity of the parliament.
The Minister said there will be chaos if the institutions enter into each other’s domain.
Other members of the House also spoke in favor of the bill saying it is important to ensure the respect of the parliament.
The chair referred the Bill to the Standing Committee concerned.
Two other bills were also laid before the House today. These included The General Cosmetics Bill, 2023 and the National Excellence Institute Bill, 2023.
The National Assembly also passed a resolution urging the government to take immediate steps to explore the potential of renewable energy for generation of affordable energy. It was moved by MNA Saira Bano.
Later, the House was adjourned to meet again on Monday at 5:00 PM.
