TAPI is a very important project for the progress of this entire region: PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD, June 08 (SABAH): Pakistan and Turkmenistan signed a joint implementation plan in Islamabad on Thursday to execute Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.

Maksat Babayev, State Minister of Turkmenistan and Head of TurkmenGaz and Minister of State for Petroleum of Pakistan Senator Dr. Musaddiq Masood Malik signing TAPI Joint Implementation Plan.

The ceremony was witnessed Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and a delegation of Turkmenistan led by Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma’a.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said TAPI is a very important project for the progress of this entire region. This will help the region secure natural gas with concrete assurances and mutually agreed terms and conditions.

Highlighting the significance of energy for developing countries, Shehbaz Sharif we have to negotiate with this challenge through speedy action.

The Prime Minister expressed the confidence that the TAPI project will bring an era of regional cooperation and prosperity. He asked the Pakistani team to speed up its planning and then its execution.

Shehbaz Sharif said both Pakistan and Turkmenistan are brotherly countries and are ready to expand their economic cooperation.
