Syed Ali Geelani’s martyrdom anniversary: Some circles object to script of billboards appeared in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Aug 31 (SABAH): Father of the Kashmiri indigenous freedom movement Syed Ali Geelani’s billboards, hoarding and signboards urging people to pay tribute to his sacrifices have appeared officially in federal capital on his second martyrdom anniversary but some of billboards’ script has been objected by political and diplomatic circles terming it negation of the ideology of veteran Kashmiri leader.

According to “SABAH”, some of the analysts were of the view that veteran Kashmiri leader, Syed Ali Gilani was not against India or any other nation but indeed he was hellbent on demanding the right of freedom from India for Kashmiris which had already been promised by Indian rulers in the resolutions of the United Nations before the international community.

In the light of this scenario, India’s political and diplomatic circles raised objections on billboards, hoarding, and signboards which have installed officially in Islamabad on the occasion of his second martyrdom anniversary declaring them against the personality of great warrior of freedom.

They further noted the words “The man who hated India” is tantamount to negation of facts as well as for the sake of providing material for making the mockery of India.

Moreover, these circles expressed their sorrow saying perhaps Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Information were not cognizant of Geelani’s continued struggle for freedom of Occupied Kashmir and his love for Pakistanis as he considered Pakistan’s flag as his own.

It is worth mentioning here that the second martyrdom anniversary of veteran Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Geelani is being observed today (September 1). Gilani passed away in Indian captivity on September 1, 2021. He breathed his last at his residence in Srinagar, where he was house arrested for over a decade.

In this regard, preparations were being made across the world including Occupied Kashmir, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan. Message which is being conveyed through the billboards appeared in the federal capital of Pakistan is worrisome and disheartening which portrays complete negligence on the part of both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as Ministry of Information and Broadcasting regarding the continued struggle of Geelani spanning over six decades.

It is pertinent to mention here that the veteran leader used to talk about affiliation of Kashmir with Pakistan and declared Kashmir as Pakistan’s natural part as well jugular vein.
