Swati’s non-participation in committee meeting: Shahzad terms probe committee convener’s statement inappropriate, contrary to facts
ISLAMABAD, Nov 12 (SABAH): Leader of the opposition in the Senate Dr. Shahzad Waseem said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has already rejected the special committee of the Senate formed to probe the leaked video of Senator Azam Swati because PTI senator wanted justice from the apex court.
In a statement on Saturday, Shahzad Waseem that Azam Swati also wrote to all the senators on November 1; wherein he categorically rejected the committee.
He said that the PTI senator clearly stated that he would seek justice from the Supreme Court in this regard. Moreover, Shahzad Waseem said that a joint parliamentary party meeting of PTI and opposition coalition parties was held on November 7, in which Senator Azam Swati also participated.
During the meeting a joint resolution was passed, wherein the Special Committee was rejected and decided that they would not be a part of any of its proceedings. He said that after the clear position of Azam Swati and the PTI and allied parties, the statement of the Committee Conveyor pertaining to non-participation of Swati in the committee meeting was contrary to the fact and inappropriate. Shahzad Waseem stated they believed that such statements would be avoided in the future.
