Supreme Court rejects plea for post-mortem of Dr. Amir Liaquat Hussain

ISLAMABAD, Sep 12 (SABAH): The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday dismissed an application seeking post-mortem of noted political personality and TV anchor Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain. His third widow Dania Aamir had filed an application for conducting postmortem of her husband.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan and comprising Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Shahid Waheed conducted of the case filed by the second wife of Amir Liaquat Hussain, Dania Bibi. Applicant’s lawyer Chaudhry Riaz Ahmed presented arguments through video link.

In his remarks, Justice Ijazul Ahsan said that now this application has become ineffective, what will be gained by taking out the body after so much time? Applicant Dania Bibi’s lawyer prayed the court that they want an autopsy to reveal the reasons of late TV host’s death.

Justice Shahid Waheed remarked that till now the body must have been decomposed. To this, the lawyer stated, “If the court allows, they want to withdraw the application.”

However, the court rejected the request to withdraw the application and dismissed the petition.
