Supreme Court issues notices to Balochistan govt, relevant parties on a bail application of Maulana Hidayatur Rehman Baloch
ISLAMABAD, May 4 (SABAH): Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued notices to government of Balochistan and relevant parties on a bail application of chief of Gwadar Haq Do Tehreek Maulana Hidayatur Rehman Baloch here on Thursday.
A two-member bench of Supreme Court headed by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar conducted hearing of a bail application filed by chief of Gwadar Haq Do Tehreek Maulana Hidayatur Rehman.
During the hearing of the case Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq, Deputy Chiefs of the Jamaat-e-Islami Liaqat Baloch, Mian Muhammad Aslam, Asadullah Bhutto Advocate and other JI leaders were also present in the courtroom.
During the hearing of bail application, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood inquired what about the case of accused? Was it a movement? Upon this the counsel of Hidayatur Rehman Baloch, Senator Kamran Murtaza Advocate replied that the accused was heading the movement regarding some water issue but he has no connection with the murder incident as he was only demanding water.
To this, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood remarked that demanding water was their right but “you call people and damage the buildings. Still the Supreme Court has issued notices to government of Balochistan and relevant parties.”
It is noteworthy here that police arrested Maulana Hidayatur Rehman on an allegation of killing a police constable Yasir Ali. Case against Hidayatur Rehman was filed under the sections of terrorism and murder in December 2022.
