Special Court acquits Suleman Shehbaz in money laundering case
LAHORE, July 10 (SABAH): A Special Court in Lahore on Monday acquitted all the accused including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s son Suleman Shahbaz in the money laundering case.
The court heard the pleas of Suleman Shahbaz and other accused, seeking their acquittal in the money laundering case. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted answers to 27 questions with the court.
Justice Bakht Fakhr Behzad asked who had conducted the money laundering inquiry? The FIA counsel said the inquiry was conducted by a JIT headed by Dr Rizwan.
To this, the judge asked whether the FIA had recorded the statement of a single witness in the entire investigation. The FIA investigation officer remained silent over the court’s question.
Judge remarked that what action was taken against those who kept changing their positions during the inquiry and investigation? The investigating officer said they did not take any action against them. The judge asked the FIA officer, “Do seven volumes of FIA contain any evidence?”
The judge remarked, “Tell me straight, don’t tell me stories. I have read everything, I will send all FIA people to jail now, remember this. I want an answer. What proof you have presented along with challan?”
Later, the special court acquitted Salman Shehbaz in the case.
