So far Pakistan receives 110 relief assistance flights for flood affectees from different countries of the world: FO Spokesperson


ISLAMABAD, Sep 16 (SABAH): So far Pakistan has received 110 relief assistance flights for the flood affectees from different countries of the world.

According to a statement issued by Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar Ahmad on Friday, so far Pakistan has received total 41 relief assistance flights from United Arab Emirates (UAE), 13 from Turkiye, four from China, one from Uzbekistan, four from Qatar, one from France, two from UNICEF, 13 from UNHCR, one from Turkmenistan, three from the World Food Programme (WFP), one from Jordan,  20 from United States of America (USA) including one support flight, one from Nepal, two from Saudi Arabia, one from United Kingdom and two from Oman.

Meanwhile in continuation of humanitarian assistance two flights from USA carrying relief assistance landed at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. In total 20 such flights from USA have landed in Pakistan carrying relief goods for the flood affectees

FO spokesperson said that the humanitarian assistance from USA is welcomed with warmth and gratitude.

Meanwhile in continuation of humanitarian air bridge established between Pakistan and UAE, two relief flights from UAE scheduled for today were received at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.

In total, 41 flights from UAE have landed in Pakistan carrying food, medical supplies and tents etc.

FO spokesperson said that Pakistan is thankful to the Government and people of UAE for their continuous support for the people of Pakistan in these times of grave crisis.

Meanwhile 87 trucks carrying humanitarian assistance from Tajikistan reached Jamrud via Torkham border on Thursday. The handing over ceremony was attended by Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam, Tajik Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Ismatullo Nasredin along with representatives of NDMA and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

FO Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said that the humanitarian assistance from Tajikistan is welcomed with warmth and gratitude.

Meanwhile first humanitarian assistance flights from Oman landed at Nur Khan Base, Rawalpindi. The relief assistance flight from Oman was received by Minister of State for Power, Muhammad Hashim Notezai along with the representatives from Foreign Office and NDMA. The relief assistance from Oman is welcomed with warmth and gratitude.

These flights from brotherly countries form a humanitarian bond to help alleviate suffering caused by unprecedented monsoon rains and floods in Pakistan
