Six students affiliated with IJT abducted from Quaid-e-Azam University, four recovered, two still missing, FIR registered


ISLAMABAD, Dec 23 (SABAH): On Wednesday at around 3:00 PM, six students of Quaid-e-Aazam University, Islamabad were forcibly abducted, kept in illegal confinement and tortured by members of the ethnic councils at the university.

Despite being informed in time, the university and city administration took no meaningful action. Having no other option to bring the matter to the notice of high ups, media and people of Pakistan, friends and families of the abducted students staged a sit-in and blocked main IJP road.

After pressure from the protesters, the police managed to recover 4 students; however, 2 students namely Tariq Hussain and Umer Farooq are still missing. The students released of the illegal confinement were beaten and grossly harassed and their belongings including mobile phones, CNICs and other important belongings were forcibly taken away by the members of ethnic councils.

After prolonged protest, the police finally registered a FIR against the culprits naming particularly Allah Din, Sardar Ehsan, Waqas Khan, Agha Jan and Moshin Jatoi with 20/30 other people. No further action has been taken by the authorities to recover still missing two students. The case of the incident has been registered at Secretariat Police Station on the complaint of Israr Ahmed Khan son of Muhammad Jamal. ASI Tariq Mehmood registered the FIR of the incident.

The students were abducted, tortured and illegally confined on the basis that they were busy in Tableegh (of Islam) which can be heard from the oral charge sheet that Waqas Khan clearly states in a video. The abducted students are affiliated with Islami Jamiat Talaba and the incident happened without any provocation and altercation. The abductors held an illegal court in open, read the allegations and pronounced punishment for the abductees and forced the abductees to record several statements in coercion in front of a mob before finally taking them away.

Names Of the abducted Students: Israr Ahmed Khan (Law Department), Musa Ameer (Dept. of History), Umer Khan (Dept of Zoology), Tufail (Dept of History), Tariq Hussain (Dept of Political Science) and Umer Farooq (School of Management).
