Six Army officials including Corps Commander Quetta Lt General Sarfraz Ali martyred in Lasbela helicopter crash


RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD, August 02 (SABAH): All the six officers and soldier, including Corps Commander Quetta Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali and Director General Coast Guards Brigadier (Approved Major General) Amjad Hanif, embraced Shahadat in a helicopter crash during flood operation in Balochistan.

According to the statement issued by DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar, the wreckage of the unfortunate helicopter was found in Lasbela district. All 6 officers and soldiers including Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali, Brigadier (Approved Major General) Amjad Hanif, Brigadier Muhammad Khalid, Major Saeed Ahmed, Major M. Talha Manan and Naik Mudassar Fayyaz embraced shahadat. اِنّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ. Accident occurred due to bad weather as per initial investigations.

Meanwhile President Dr. Arif Alvi and the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of six Army officials, including Lt. General Sarfraz Ali, in helicopter crash.

President Dr. Arif Alvi telephoned Army Chief General Bajwa and condoled with him over the martyrdom of Army personnel. He prayed for higher ranks for the departed souls in heaven.

In a separate message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif too has expressed his grief over the martyrdom of the military officials. He said the entire nation salutes Lt Gen Sarfraz Ali, Director General Pakistan Coast Guards Major General Amjad, Pilot Major Saeed, Co-Pilot Major Talha, and Crew member Naik Mudassar for their supreme sacrifice. The Prime Minister also commiserated with the bereaved families.
