Situation in Gaza & Palestine has saddened all of us: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

KARACHI, April 2 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, while speaking to media representatives at the traditional Eid gathering organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi at Idara Noor-e-Haq on the first day of Shawwal, stated that the situation in Gaza and Palestine has saddened all of us.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that even on the first and second days of Eid, Israel bombed innocent children who were celebrating and playing in Gaza. For the past one and a half years, Palestinians have been forced to live amidst rubble.

He said the Zionists have violated the agreement and repeated their thousands-year-old history. The United States is involved in supplying weapons and explosives to Israel. Along with Israel, every country supporting it is responsible for this oppression.

He further criticized the rulers of the Muslim Ummah, stating that they possess everything but lack honor and dignity. Both the government and the opposition are more focused on pleasing the U.S. rather than condemning Israel and America, he said. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the entire Ummah stands in solidarity with the people of Gaza and Palestine. The boycott of products benefiting Israel will continue, he added.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also announced that after Eid, Jamaat-e-Islami will launch a strong movement against issues such as law and order, electricity bills, and the sugar and wheat mafias. Rallies will be held in all provinces. He emphasized that their Eid message is clear: when people are imposed on the public through Form 47 without their consent, the gap between the public and the army will never be bridged.

He also pointed out the deteriorating situation in Pakistan’s two provinces, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that the government has taken no steps to foster unity.

Additionally, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, along with others visited the home of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s sister, Dr. Fouzia Siddiqui, on the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr to extend Eid greetings.

Dr. Fouzia Siddiqui shared that her sister, Dr. Aafia, is being subjected to severe torture, and the government has taken no steps for her release. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stated that the unfortunate reality is that before coming into power, all political parties promise to work for Dr. Aafia’s release, but once in government, they take no practical steps. He added that the current government is merely a continuation of previous governments, all of which have prioritized pleasing the United States over taking action.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman reaffirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami has stood by Dr. Aafia’s family since the very first day of her arrest and will continue to make every possible effort for her release.
