Sirajul Haq slams postponement of LB polls in Sindh

LAHORE, August 24 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq while condemning the postponement of local bodies polls in Sindh, has termed it against the democratic norms and an act of depriving the people of their basic right.

Sirajul Haq in a statement on Wednesday said if by-polls can be held then the local bodies’ polls may also be held, adding the provincial governments have always been in a fix in connection with holding of local bodies’ polls.

He maintained that even in the critical situations; the elections are not postponed in the democratic countries as only free, fair and transparent elections provide an opportunity to the people to elect representatives of their choice for sorting out their hardships.
