Sirajul Haq, Liaqat Baloch & Hafiz Naeemur Rehman included in next Emir Jamaat-e-Islami panel
LAHORE, Feb 11 (SABAH): Secretary Information Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Qaisar Sharif has said that Jamaat-e-Islami is completely a democratic party and is working under the Constitution, which has been compiled in the light of the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
According section 17 (3) (A) and 4 of the Constitution, three months prior to the completion of the tenure of Emir Jamaat-e-Islami, the electoral commission starts the process of election of emir. According to the Constitution, the election of the Emir Jamaat-e-Islami is held after every five years.
According to Constitution of Jamaat-e-Islami, President Electoral Commission Jamaat-e-Islami Rashid Naseem after consultation with the Central Executive Committee has announced three names for the guidance of the members of the Jamaat-e-Islami. The names include Sirajul Haq, Liaqat Baloch and Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman.
Members of Jamaat-e-Islami could also express their opinion in favor of any other person for being Emir Jamaat-e-Islami excluding these above three persons.
Qaisar Sharif said that all the phases for election of Emir Jamaat-e-Islami would be completed till March 31, 2024 whereas in April, President Election Commission Rashid Naseem would announce the results after which oath taking ceremony of the newly elected Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan would be held.
Election Commission of Jamaat-e-Islami is an independent and autonomous institution which is consisted of five persons who are elected by central executive committee, whose President is Rashid Naseem and other members include Bilal Qudrat Butt, Sardar Zafar Hussain, Dr. Ataur Rehman and Engineer Ikhlaq Ahmed. Currently, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq is completing his second term.
