Sirajul Haq expresses concern that institutions responsible for accountability have often been misused for political victimization
PESHAWAR, Oct 06 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has expressed concern that institutions responsible for accountability have often been misused for political victimization rather than being allowed to operate freely against those who have plundered the nation.
During discussions with various delegations on Friday, Sirajul Haq emphasized that, once in power with the support of the people, the JI would work towards meeting the nation’s demand for comprehensive accountability.
He lamented the detrimental impact of dynastic rule on both the economy and institutions, particularly highlighting the decisions made by the two previous governments over the past five years. He observed that these decisions had resulted in widespread suffering for the public. The deterioration in the security situation, he noted, had further exacerbated economic challenges, leading to rampant inflation and unemployment.
The JI leader expressed his disappointment in the caretaker government’s continued adherence to the policies of its predecessors, seemingly following the directives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He argued that international lending agencies often formulate policies influenced by global powers, which, in turn, hinder nations from achieving self-reliance and independence.
Sirajul Haq asserted that Pakistan had long been a target of these international powers, even since its independence. He contended that the country had been divided once due to their schemes, and he believed their conspiracies still persisted.
Sirajul Haq urged the nation to be vigilant and discern these conspiracies, advocating for the selection of honest and dedicated leadership in the upcoming elections. He asserted that the JI remained the sole viable option for the masses, as all other alternatives had been tried which badly failed to perform. He maintained that Pakistan possessed abundant resources and that its primary need was genuine leadership capable of setting it on the right path. He demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan conduct free and fair elections and announce the date for national vote. The stability, he added, would achieved only with the conduct of transparent elections.
Highlighting the JI’s commitment to advocating for the rights of the people, Sirajul Haq announced that JI would hold sit-in protest in front of the Governor House in Karachi on October 8, focusing on the issue of inflation. He called on the government to reduce petrol prices and bring them down to Rs150 per liter.
