Sirajul Haq emphasizes the importance of proactive engagement by the Afghan govt in fostering peace within Pakistan

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE, August 10 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has emphasized the importance of proactive engagement by the Afghan government in fostering peace within Pakistan.

During a meeting held in Islamabad with Afghanistan’s Ambassador, Sardar Ahmed Khan Shakeeb, Sirajul Haq expressed deep appreciation for the recent decree issued by Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, denouncing terrorism, acknowledging its significance in the broader context of combating extremism.

The Afghan diplomat and the accompanying delegation paid their respects to the victims of the tragic Bajaur blast by offering Fateha. Condemning the incident, he highlighted their government’s steadfast commitment to regional peace.

Sirajul Haq articulated the interconnectedness of progress and the well-being of the citizens in both Afghanistan and Pakistan with the pursuit of peace. He underscored Pakistan’s historical sacrifices for Afghanistan, including hosting millions of Afghan refugees for an extended period, symbolizing a strong bond between the two nations.

Addressing the strategic challenges, he noted that adversaries sought to prevent the Islamic countries from forming close ties, recognizing that undermining these conspiracies was of utmost importance. Sirajul Haq emphasized that the enduring relationship between Kabul and Islamabad would not only be beneficial for current relations but would also create a favorable environment for subsequent generations and bolster trade dynamics across the region, extending its benefits beyond bilateral scope to encompass the entire Central Asian region.

Furthermore, Sirajul Haq voiced deep concern over the escalating terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. He stressed that these occurrences were troubling for the entire Pakistani populace and stressed the urgent need to establish a tension-free border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, ensuring stability and security in the border regions.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement issued from Mansoorah, he said the PDM and PPP’s government was leaving the office at a time when the country was grappling with chaos and polarization. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are ablaze with terrorism, and skyrocketing inflation has made life unbearable for the people, he said. Overall, Sirajul Haq said, the past five years have been some of the most challenging in the nation’s history, as successive governments, including 13 parties and the former PTI-led coalition, failed to take a single step for the betterment of the people. Legislation, he said, was done for the convenience of the government and laws catering to the wishes of the IMF and FATF were introduced.
