Sirajul Haq demands fresh elections in the country
SUKKUR, Mar 04 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has demanded the fresh elections in the country, saying the law-and-order situation, poverty, inflation and unemployment have reached to the level which the incumbent set up lacked capacity and ability to resolve.
The political instability will further rise in coming days if the people were not allowed to choose their representatives through fair and transparent manners, Sirajul Haq said while addressing sit-in in Sukkur on Friday.
The JI chief condemned the suicide attack on Peshawar Mosque and termed the perpetrators as beasts. He said mosques, religious seminaries and schools were being attacked and the rulers failed to provide protection to the innocent people. He said enemies of the country were hatching conspiracies to destabilize Pakistan. He also reiterated concerns over PECA ordinance, saying the government introduced the black law to silence criticism against its inabilities.
Sirajul Haq demanded the government decrease 50 percent prices of the food items, petrol, electricity and medicines. He said the government must remove the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan who was acting as viceroy of the IMF in Pakistan. The prime minister was making claims to transform Pakistan into Madina state but continued the riba, he said, calling for the elimination of interest-based economy.
If the government did not pay attention to the demands of the people, it must ready to face them in Islamabad, he warned.
Sirajul Haq said the PTI and the PPP were holding long-marches against each other in the name of the right of the people. Being in government, he said, their protests were unjustified as they have to put their performances before the people instead of holding protest rallies. He said the three parties (the PTI, the PML-N and the PPP) were desperately failed to strengthen institutions and provide people any relief despite enjoying power for years. He said the ruling elite was again befooling the masses only to come to power. They forget the masses after coming into power and only made focus to increase their wealth, he said. After testing all three parties, he said, the people of Pakistan were left with choice to choose the JI. “We put the country on track if voted to power,” he vowed.
