Sirajul Haq asks govt to honor its agreement it signed with leaders of the Gwardar Movement

ISLAMABAD, Jan 05 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has asked the government to honor its agreement it signed with the leaders of the Gwardar Movement, saying the rulers must address the deprivations of the people of Balochistanin the interest of the federation.

Presiding over the meeting of central leadership at Qurtaba City Islamabad on Wednesday, Sirajul Haq also rejected the Sindh Local Government Law and announced the JI Karachiwould continue its sit-in in front of Sindh Assembly until the PPP government took back the law and listen to the opposition demands. He said the law was against the spirit of basis democracy and tantamount to deprive the people of Karachi from their basic rights. The JI leadership discussed the prevailing political and economic situation of the country.

Sirajul Haq held the government responsible for the economic crisis, inflation and unemployment. He said the PTI virtually handed over the country to the IMF and its slogans to bring real change proved lie. The JI chief rejected the mini-budget and vowed to continue struggle against the anti-people policies of the PTI. Sirajul Haq said the PTI and the former governments did nothing for the betterment of the country and the fight of three main parties (PTI, PML-N, PPP) were only for protecting self-interests.

The Jamaat-e-Islami meeting announced to participate election under its own flag and electoral symbol.  Sirajul Haq said the JI would contest the election with the manifesto “Islami Pakistan-Prosperous Pakistan”, advising the JI leaders and workers to make full preparations for the general and local bodies’ elections. He appealed to the people to reject the status quo parties in the elections and vote for the JI to put the country on track. He said the JI had reservations on the present electoral system, vowing to fight the rigging and unfair practices being adopted by the feudal lords and corrupt imperialists in the polls. He said the JI was struggling for transparent elections and true democratic values in the country.

The meeting expressed solidarity with the Kashmir and Palestine causes and demanded the government recognize the government of Afghanistan.
