Sirajul Haq asks federal govt to take back appeal filed in SC against FSC’s verdict on interest
LAHORE, July 20 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq has asked the federal government to take back its appeal filed in Supreme Court of Pakistan against Federal Shariat Court’s verdict on interest.
In a statement issued from Mansoorah, Sirajul Haq said that interest-based system is like waging a war against Almighty Allah and His Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as well as opposition of the Constitution of Pakistan. He said that the rulers should avoid getting influence from anti-religion and anti-masses elements and should get rid of debt-based economy. He said that all the foreign agreements should be made conditional with the approval of the parliament and their details should be made public. He said that masses are helpless before inflation and unemployment, adding corruption is root cause of all such problems.
Instead of putting further burden of indirect taxes on the masses, Sirajul Haq said that there is a need to impose a ban on free of cost petrol, electricity and use of government vehicles for personal benefits, that are enjoyed by powerful privileged class, civil military bureaucracy, ministers, members of Parliament, judges and others holding higher positions.
More than 80 million people are compelled to pass lives below the poverty line, he said, adding bad governance, VIP culture and insincerity and incapability of rulers causing increase in problems with each passing day. Until and unless interest-based system keeps continue, there are no chances of progress and prosperity, he said, and added Pakistan needs an Islamic System.
According to different surveys, 83 % of the population is in the favour of getting rid of interest, he said, adding there is a need to implement Federal Shariat Court’s verdict as soon as possible. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami will enforce the system of Zakat and Ushar after coming into the power with the support of the masses and fully transform it into an Islamic welfare state.
There is a need to put in place serious efforts for bringing back the looted money from foreign countries, he said, and added if overseas Pakistanis extend their helping hand then the country can come out of prevailing crises. There is a need to take solid and prudent decisions about those corporations who have been continuously rendering losses to the national exchequer, he added.
There is a need to give preferential treatment to agriculture and industry, he said, and added this is possible only by facilitating farmers. Instead of relying on expensive electricity there is a need to exploit alternative energy resources, he added.
Sirajul Haq said that all three big political parties have completely failed to resolve the problems of country, adding that now only Jamaat-e-Islami is a single option available with the people. He said that the nation while rejecting the tested landlords, feudals and corrupt investors should choose competent and honest people so that the foundation of corruption free Islamic Pakistan is laid.
