Sirajul Haq appeals to nation to donate for flood victims in Sindh, Balochistan and southern Punjab


SUKKUR,August 24 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq has appealed to the nation to donate for flood victims in Sindh, Balochistan and southern Punjab.

The Jamaat-e-Islami emir who is paying a visit of Sindh after spending three days in southern Punjab with the flood affected people and looking after relief activities of Alkhidmat Foundation and JI volunteers, made this call during a press conference in Sukkur on Wednesday.

While narrating the scenes of devastation in Jacobabad, Shikarpur and Kandhkot, he said it seemed the federal and provincial governments were either incapable or slow in providing quick relief to the victims. Along with provincial chapters emir of Sindh Muhammad Hussain Mehanti and Balochistan emir Maulana Abdulhaq Hashmir, he also visited Jaffarabad Balochistan and told the media persons in Sukkur that millions of people were forced to spend their nights under open skies due to unavailability of tents.

He maintained that the children were without food and animals were dying because of unavailability of fodder. He said he had seen the floods smashed away entire villages. He said the government funds were not seen on grounds as people were waiting for food and shelters. He said the people immediately needed tents for temporary shelters.

The JI emir said the local MNAs and MPAs were hardly available in their areas. The national leadership, he added, was either sitting in Islamabad’s luxury offices or visiting foreign countries. The rulers, he said, were in a habit to abandon the masses whenever the later were in dire need.

Sirajul Haq reminded the political leadership and federal and provincial governments it was not the time of mutual fights rather they should stand united to help the helpless. He asked the prime minister and chief ministers to directly supervise the flood relief activities.

He said the Jamaat۔e۔Islami had never and would not leave the masses alone in this testing time and was utilizing all its resources to help the people. He said the people in flood affected areas needed their rights and it was governments responsibilities to ensure it.
