Sherry Rehman alleges blatant rigging in KPK LB election, urges ECP notice


ISLAMABAD, Dec 20 (SABAH): Pakistan People’s Party vice President and Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Sherry Rehman has leveled allegation of rigging in KPK local bodies elections by provincial government.

In a recent statement on the polling PPP leader has asserted that results of 120 polling stations have been submitted with inordinate delay.

Moreover, the PPP leader has called upon Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan to take cognizance of the purported rigging and probe the presiding officers concerned about late submissions.

Sherry Rehman has also claimed that 30 presiding officers have gone out of scene soon after the polling process. She has also asked the electoral body to know the whereabouts of the ‘missing’ officials.

Senator Sherry Rehman likened the alleged electoral ‘rigging by provincial government’ in KPK local bodies election with the rigging in Daska by-election. ‘The KPK Govt has replicated modus operandi of Daska election rigging here in local bodies polls’, claimed PPP leader.

Meanwhile in a separate statement Sherry Rehman said that government is going to increase electricity per unit price by Rs 4.33 in from of fuel price adjustment, adding that the decision will result in putting burden of Rs 40 billion masses. He said that every month billions of rupees burden is shifted on the masses, adding that we reject the increase in the electricity prices.
