June 4 (SABAH): Pakistan’s ambassador to United States Masood Khan in a statement issued on social media website X, said about Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee who is suffering from pancreatic cancer nowadays, you are a courageous leader and an inspiration to the marginalized and disadvantaged.
“We are confident that you would fight the disease with your characteristic strength. We all pray for your early and full recovery. The people of Pakistan have a special and deep association with you because of your advocacy of stronger Pakistan-United States relations as the chairperson of the Congressional Pakistan,” he said.
While Sheila Jackson Lee has issued the following statement:
“My adult life has been defined by my faith in God, my love for humanity and my commitment to public service. As a member of Congress, I have been honored to be one of the leaders in the fight for justice and equality for all, especially the disadvantaged and dispossessed. Today my fight is more personal, but I will approach it with the same faith and same courage.”
“My doctors have confirmed my diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. I am currently undergoing treatment to battle this disease that impacts tens of thousands of Americans every year.”
“I am confident that my doctors have developed the best possible plan to target my specific disease. The road ahead will not be easy, but I stand in faith that God will strengthen me.”
