Sheikh Rashid meets President Dr. Arif Alvi, both discuss political situation of the country

ISLAMABAD, Dec 19 (SABAH): Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed met President Dr. Arif Alvi at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday to discuss matters related to the political situation in Pakistan.

During the meeting the political situation of the country was discussed. In the meeting that lasted for 45 minutes, consultations were also held on the dissolution of the assemblies and future strategy in this regard.

Sheikh Rashid urged President Alvi to play his role as the supreme commander in the country.

Earlier on Monday in a statement issued on twitter, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that inflation has been soaring high in the country and there is a fresh wave of terrorism, while the government is running away from holding elections. “The President is the supreme commander He should use his Constitutional authority.”

On the other hand, former Prime Minister Imran Khan also slammed the incumbent government for its failure in combating terrorism. Imran Khan said that the government is only interested in taking NRO and the welfare of the country is at stake.

He said, “Despite the economy tanking, they are petrified of holding elections which is the only way to stabilise the economy through political stabilisation.”

Sheikh Rashid urged President Arif Alvi to use his constitutional powers as the coalition government is running away from holding fresh elections in the country.

He said the PTI Chief Imran Khan had kept his word by announcing the date for the dissolution of assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Apart from it, it s a fact that public was fed up with political uncertainty, he said.

People shied away from investing in the country as “dacoits” were ruling, he said, adding: “The country is in grip of inflation and terrorism and they [government] are running away from elections.”
