Shehbaz urges masses to ‘teach Imran Khan & company a befitting lesson at the time of elections’
LAHORE, Feb 16 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government of being “insensitive and heartless” to the sufferings of inflation-hit masses.
Shehbaz Sharif hit out at the PTI-led government, saying “it is snatching people’s right to live”. He urged the masses to “teach Imran Khan and company a befitting lesson at the time of elections”.
Shehbaz Sharif said that over Rs. 12 increase in per liter petrol price is a tyrannical step of the tyrant, false and corrupt government. He said that the inflation will not end till the end of the government, adding that the masses will have to come out against the tyrant government. Shehbaz Sharif said that we will help getting rid of the government, which has given punishment of inflation to masses. He said that the government has only increased the inflation in three years and nine months.
Shehbaz Sharif said that those who were used to deliver speeches for giving the petrol on Rs 46 per liter to masses are approving Rs. 12 per liter increase in prices. He said that there is no room for the poor in the new Pakistan of Imran Niazi, adding that only the pockets of the mafias and cartels are being filled.
“The present govt is the most insensitive, heartless & cruel. By exploding the oil bomb on the people, it is snatching their right to live. I urge the masses to teach IK & Co. a befitting lesson at the time of elections. Those supporting this regime will also face people’s ire” Shehbaz Sharif tweeted on Wednesday.
Meanwhile Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Muhammad Hamza Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that such a drastic increase of Rs12/liter in the petroleum prices is nothing but “economic murder” of the people.
While talking to the media, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader said that petroleum prices have reached a record high of 159 rupees and government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is responsible for this.
Hamza Shahbaz said that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan loots the people of our country by hiking petroleum prices after every 15 days. On what agenda are the people of Pakistan being buried under these price hikes, asked the Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly.
The PML-N leader further stated that this government has mortgaged the economy of our country to foreign institutions, causing the people to bear the burden.
It is worth mentioning here that the government on Wednesday night notified an unprecedented increase in the prices of all petroleum products by up to Rs10 to Rs12 per litre for the next fortnight ending on Feb 28 “to pass on the impact of higher international oil prices” and application of additional petroleum levy.
These are the highest-ever prices of all the products and also perhaps the highest-ever increase in their prices in one go. The government had last increased the petrol prices by Rs 3.01 to Rs147.83 on Jan 15.
