Shehbaz says Kaveh Moussavi’s apology to Nawaz in Britain is a slap in the face of rulers
ISLAMABAD, Mar 22 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that Kaveh Moussavi’s, the CEO of the asset recovery firm Broadsheet LLC, apology to former prime minister and party supremo Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Britain is a slap in the face of rulers.
While addressing a press conference at the PML-N Secretariat in Islamabad along with former prime minister and Senior Vice President of PML-N Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, PML-N Secretary General and former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry, PML-N Punjab President and Member National Assembly Rana Sanaullah Khan, PML-N Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, former finance minister and Secretary General PML-N Sindh Dr. Miftah Ismail Ahmed former federal minister Dr, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and other leaders, Shehbaz Sharif said that the CEO of the asset recovery firm Broadsheet LLC admitted that the NAB gave wrong information but no evidence of corruption was found against the elder Sharif and his family.
The opposition leader welcomed the guests attending the OIC meeting and hoped that the meeting would raise voice for the oppressed Palestinian and Kashmiri brothers. We hope that this conference will find a solution to the famine in Afghanistan.
Regarding Kaveh Moussavi, he said that the head of Broadsheet had issued an apology to the former PM for being part of a “witch-hunt” against him by the country s anti-corruption watchdog, saying “not one rupee” of wealth allegedly looted from Pakistan could be traced back to the ex-PM.
Mentioning the CEO of the asset recovery firm, the PML-N president said that he was appointed during the tenure of former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf and he could not find any proof of corruption against despite investigation of many years, while the information given by NAB was wrong.
Shehbaz Sharif went on to say that Imran Niazi’s previous tweets are in front of the whole nation in which he used to tell about the steps of Broadsheet. Imran Niazi’s lie has come to the fore once again in front of the nation, he said.
Shahbaz Sharif said that today is a “very important” day in the history of Pakistan. Shahbaz said that the head of the British firm has issued an “unconditional apology to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, acknowledging that they did not find a single loose corruption against him”. “This is a tight slap on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s face,” he said, accusing him of pushing the nation into an abyss of poverty and unemployment.
Shahbaz said Broadsheet was established during Pervaiz Musharraf’s tenure. “…NAB-Niazi nexus along with Shahzad Akbar tried hard to prove corruption against Nawaz Sharif; however, they failed miserably,” he added.
He questioned where is the joint investigation team (JIT) held Nawaz accountable. Shahbaz reiterated that nothing has been proved despite 20 years of investigation. The PML-N leader said that the PTI-led government ridiculed, propagandised Nawaz and the party on television; and today everybody witnessed the “drop scene.”
Meanwhile in a statement issued on twitter earlier in the day Shehbaz Sharif said that Broadsheet CEO’s revelations expose politically inspired witch-hunt of Nawaz Sharif and family in the name of so-called accountability. Corruption allegations were made to keep him out of public life. Now the whole edifice of lies, deceit and character assassination stands demolished.
Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif welcomed the leaders who have arrived in Pakistan for the ongoing 48th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference.
He said that the leaders should raise issues regarding the oppression in Kashmir and Palestine during the session, hoping that the Pakistan tour becomes a memorable trip for the visiting dignitaries.
Shahbaz Sharif further added that the leaders should also raise the Afghanistan issue highlighting the serious threat of famine.
Meanwhile, Vice-president Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that Prime Minister Imran Khan could not prove the corruption of Rs 65 against Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif after spending an amount of 65 million Pounds.
Taking it to Twitter, Maryam Nawaz mentioned that PM Imran Khan spend the national money and failed to prove the corruption charges. She added that Allah gave respect to Nawaz Sharif.
Maryam Nawaz went to say that PM Imran Khan should be held accountable to answer that who gave him the authority of spending the national money for revenge purposes.
