Shehbaz says joint opposition will formulate a strategy to opposition govt’s mini-budget
LAHORE/ISLAMABAD, Dec 11 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that joint opposition will formulate a strategy to opposition the government’s mini-budget.
Shehbaz Sharif, in a statement, said that passage of mini-budget from the National Assembly is synonymous to a national suicide. Tsunami of ‘tabdeli’ has swallowed economy, jobs and happiness of the public, he added.
Opposition Leader of National Assembly further said that incumbent government has become a threat to national security.
Meanwhile Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly Muhammad Hamza Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) while trying to make ‘Naya Pakistan’ has destroyed the old one.
Talking to media persons after appearing before the banking court in money laundering case, Hamza Shehbaz said that they will continue their struggle at every forum to send the government packing.
He further said that Prime Minister said that inflation is lowest in Pakistan while there is 18 percent inflation in the country and Finance Advisor says that inflation will increase further.
The PML-N leader said that people who trusted the PTI are now regretting their decision. Imran Khan is the biggest mafia of this country, he added.
On the other hand, Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz and other accused on Saturday appeared before banking court in money laundering case. During the hearing, the court has directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to submit original challan as soon as possible. The court has extended pre-arrest bails of Shehbaz, Hamza and other accused till 16th December.
Earlier, FIA had prepared a challan against PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz and declared them as prime accused.
On the other hand, Pakistan People’s Party has also rejected the mini-budget. PPP Parliamentary Leader in Senate Sherry Rehman said that after increase in petroleum levy and sales tax everything will become more expensive.
Sherry Rehman, in a tweet, said that how can government claim that increase in these taxes will not impact prices of daily use items. PPP rejects this mini-budget of government and International Monetary Fund (IMF), she added.
The PPP leader further said that government is going to impose 17 percent GST on several items which will increase inflation and put additional burden on already suffering people.
