Shaikh Tajammul-ul-Islam played vital role in freedom movement of Kashmir: Speakers  


ISLAMABAD, Sep 9 (SABAH): Kashmiri leader, intellectual and journalist Shaikh Tajammul-ul-Islam’s role in freedom movement of Occupied Kashmir will always remain alive in the pages of history. His valuable and matchless services to the Kashmir cause are unforgettable.

A memorial reference was organized jointly by Kashmir Media Service, Friends of Kashmir and National Press Club (NPC) on the occasion of first death anniversary of late Shaikh Tajammul-ul-Islam.for his valuable and matchless services to Kashmir cause.

The seminar was addressed by former president and prime minister Azad Kashmir, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, former convener Hurriyet Conference Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Altaf Hussain Wani, Gazala Habib, Dr. Mujahid Gilani, Manzoor Ahmed Shah, Abdul Hameed Lone, Abdullah Gull, Secretary NPC Khalil Ahmed Raja and others.

Addressing on the occasion, Sardar Yaqoob Khan said that Kashmiris will decide their fate on their own and added that they will have to be united for the sake of right to self-determination. He said that the mission of late Kashmiri leader will be completed with assistance of Almighty Allah. He stressed upon the need of unity to achieve the right to self-determination.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that Kashmiris are rendering countless sacrifices for them as well as for Pakistan so their tangible sacrifices should be honoured. Afzal Butt said that late Shaikh Tajammul-ul-Islam has made a clear-cut roadmap for all the followers and added that there is a need to expedite our efforts at all fronts. He also shed light on the other unforgettable sacrifices of veteran Kashmiri leader late Shaikh Tajammul-ul-Islam.

Syed Manzoor Ahmed Shah said that he came under police radar after Jamiat-e-Talaba announced a mega International Youth Conference in Srinagar in mid eighties. The conference was however banned by Sheikh Abdullah’s administration. He further said that the late leader always stressed upon the need of research and used to oppose sectarianism; however, he himself was very firm in his beliefs.

Hameed Lone said that late Tajamul did not like publicity at all. Lon further said that he was the leader of youth. Indian army and police always used illegal means to put him under pressure.
