Shabir Ahmed Shah expresses concerns over rising incidents of Indian state terrorism in Occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Nov 12 (SABAH): Senior Hurriyat leader and Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmed Shah Saturday expressed his grave concern  over the rising incidents of Indian state terrorism, illegal confiscation of civilian properties and ongoing killing spree of Kashmiri youth by Indian occupation forces in the territory.
In his message from Tihar jail the incarcerated leader while voicing his party’s serious concern over the worsening human rights situation in the region, Shabir Ahmed Shah stated that the continued violence and bloodshed in the restive region merits urgent attention of the international community.
Terming the recent killing of youth in different areas of the valley as part of Indian government’s systematic genocide campaign, the DFP chief appealed the international human rights organization to take stock of the situation and help-stop the barbaric brutality being inflicted on Kashmiri people.
He stated that the Indian troops operating under a shield of draconian laws have unleashed a reign of terror in the occupied Kashmir. “Innocent people are being harassed and humiliated during cordon and search operations, whereas extra-judicial killings, enforced disappearances, confiscation of civilians’ properties and killing of youth in fake encounters are being used by India as a war tactic to suppress Kashmiris’ legitimate struggle for right to self-determination”, Shah stated, adding that Indian government was terrorising the families of Hurriyat leaders by attaching their houses and properties they have legally inherited or purchased.
Such tactics he said wouldn’t deter Kashmiri resistance leaders from pursuing the collective cause for which they have given unprecedented sacrifices.
The DFP chief also voiced his concern over the continued detention of  Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders, rights defenders, journalists and  civil society activists who have been arrested before and after 5th August 2019. Shah said that the Indian government was using detentions as a weapon to stifle the ongoing resistance movement in Kashmir. He however maintained that Indian government cannot suppress Kashmiris’ struggle by resorting to such mean tactics.
